This one kicks and bites with all the anger of

It begins with a broken heart but ends with the unexpected love of love.

Bright Eyes is better known for the beautiful The First Day Of My Life

but this song has had a greater impact on me.

It's nostalgic. Perhaps not in a good way.

After the release of this cover,
I felt it was time to share the musical gem with other people.

Kitty Killed Catherine is a Scottish singer who writes her own songs,
in which rhythm and lyrics are both unique and powerful.

Unfortunately I am unable to find her own songs on youtube

so this cover will suffice.

As hard as it is to do these days,
Bradley manages to achieve a fresh faced love song.

With quirkyness and humour in each line:

"Like a zoologist loves baboons, so do I love you".

Very cute, whimsical and will undoubtedly put a smile on your face.

Mona- Listen To Your Love

Falling for this song was unexpected.

To begin with it lacks heart and promise

but by the end, the repeated "listen to your love" becomes addictive and rhythmic in your head.

I've been singing it for hours.

In the article where I discovered Mona,

the lead singer anecdotes about a couple

who told him that they were on the brink of divorce before they heard this song.

Listening to their love had saved their marriage.

I don't know how much it can do for you

but it sure as hell is catchy.

Kimya Dawson- Check Your Snob At The Door

Big fan of Kimya. I came across this video on her Myspace blog and NEEDED to share it with someone. Her songs are usually classic Kimya, which I love, but this one was even zestier and fiesty. She really works the rapping here and is a God of all things 'speaking your mind'.

A few words on my opinion of Kimya:

Absolute genius. This woman is so free at heart and just gets it, without even realising.
Her music is a crazy juxtaposition of simple, mellow, down to earth vibes and completely out-there, yet startlingly accurate notions.
Hitting the nail on the head every time.

Her songs are full of thought-provoking, tongue in cheek, and even epiphany enducing lyrics. Including the beautiful take on not letting things go to your head 'I like Giants' which uses a cute anecdotal tale of a giant to discuss fame, weight issues, even depression:
"So I talked to Geneviève and almost cried when she said
That the giant on the cliff wished that she was dead
And the lemmings on the cliff wished that they were dead
So the giant told the lemmings why they ought to live instead
When she thought up all those reasons that they ought to live instead
It made her reconsider all the sad thoughts in her head."

The honest sincerity evident in her words brings Kimya, as a person, to life in the listeners minds:
"I guess by now you all know my friends Danny broke his neck
He was driving home from sirens when he got into a wreck
First I cried for him and then I cried for me
Haunted by the ghost of the girl I used to be."

These are sounds to knock a society-driven, pop culturist back down to Earth. Not in a harsh way but in a mind-clearing, "what the fuck am I listening to? It's awesome!", way.
Dawson clearly writes real music with no intentions, ambitions or aims to make it anything other than what she is feeling at that moment in time.
And for that I commend you, Kimya Dawson.
There is only one word that truly sums up how your music makes me feel, and with the greatest sincerity and slight fear of sounding cliched, that word is: Inspired.
